VIDEO: Cleaning up Sandy With ‘Snap, Crack, Pop’

The Department of Transportation (DOT) is working to remove fallen trees around New York in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. Without chainsaws, DOT employees developed their own cleanup method, using a machine designed to move asphalt, sand and cement. They call the process “Snap, Crack, Pop.”

NYU Hospital Evacuates Hundreds

On Tuesday morning, Oct. 30, in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, NYU Hospital completed an emergency evacuation of over 200 patients on Manhattan’s East Side.  The hospital, in an emergency evacuation zone between First Avenue and the East River, lost power overnight after its backup generators failed, forcing the staff to resort to emergency procedures.
