Francisco Pinzon-Martinez was murdered the night of Oct. 18 in the building, in an apartment that had been converted into a storage room for a Metro PCS store next door where he worked. His body was not discovered until Friday afternoon by a co-worker.

At a memorial service for John Collado last month, police representatives who showed up to support the family were not welcomed by the community. The family of John Collado says they want the detective who shot Collado to be held accountable for his actions, which they say was risky and irresponsible.

Gun violence in New York saw an increase this summer after over a decade of decline. Harlem activist and mother Jackie Rowe-Adams and her organization Harlem Mothers SAVE have worked tirelessly to stop the violence, working with schools, residents, organizers, the police, and most importantly, one other.
